Interactive worlds

Project Genie.

Google's experimental world-model prototype for creating and exploring interactive environments; navigating generated worlds is different from receiving an editable game project.

What it is

Project Genie is Google’s experimental interface for generating, exploring, and remixing interactive worlds. Its world model predicts how the environment evolves as a user acts. It belongs to our interactive-world category rather than the same workflow as exporting an engine project.

Access changed after launch

The January 2026 launch described US access. Google’s May announcement expanded rollout to eligible Google AI Ultra subscribers globally, aged 18+, and added Street View grounding for locations in the US. Subscription eligibility and available features should be checked in the current account.

What an exploration does not prove

The original announcement describes video downloads and limitations involving consistency, physics, control, and session duration. A recorded exploration is not downloadable game source, a stable rules system, or an independently hostable executable. Older limits are historical launch statements, not freshly measured behavior.

Who should investigate it

It is relevant to experiments with navigable generated environments and early world-model interaction. For a persistent game with deliberate objectives, saved progress, or independent distribution, verify each requirement separately.

We have not generated a world, tested current limits, or exported a playable build.
