Douyin interactive-story cooperation: what would creators deliver?.

Following a DataEye report to a ByteDance Lark form and World Apart announcements, we separate cooperation interest, interactive delivery, AI chat quotas and sales claims from estimated revenue.

An AI video becomes more useful as an interactive work when someone can inspect choices, progression and maintenance. An October 20 DataEye report offers a specific distribution lead: it attributes a call for interactive drama and film-game cooperation to Douyin Group’s short-drama copyright center and links to a ByteDance Lark form.

We read the report and opened that public form on October 22. We verified its title and initial fields. The fuller account of cooperation modes and scope still comes from the report, rather than independently verified contract terms.

What the form shows, and what the report says

Information Source and evidence boundary
Entry point A form on ByteDance’s Lark domain titled interactive drama and interactive film-game cooperation interest collection
Initial questions Label/company name, business contact and phone, optional Lark QR code, and whether a finished work exists
Content DataEye describes nonlinear video narratives with branching choices, viewpoint changes and exploration
Cooperation DataEye lists joint distribution, joint funding and joint IP development
Format and participants The report says horizontal/vertical video, live-action/AI production, individuals, studios and companies are eligible; the initial form only names a label/company field, so individuals should confirm how to identify themselves

This collects interest. An accessible form and a “no finished work” option do not establish funding, guaranteed distribution or approval. We submitted nothing and did not test submission, review or subsequent contact. The initial view did not supply complete revenue shares, rights terms, review timing or a definite deadline.

Prepare an interactive delivery, beyond a generated clip

The report describes interactive drama as more story-led with sparse interaction, and film-games as more strongly driven by user choices and denser play. These are categories reported for this call, not universal definitions of games.

Our preparation suggestions below are editorial analysis, not published mandatory application requirements:

  1. Show one complete consequence of a choice. Demonstrate the transition from video to input, branch playback and continuation or return. Label any conversations generated during play separately.
  2. Include a branch and state table. Identify conditions, endings, watched content, saves and recovery. A video count does not establish a completable experience.
  3. Separate production and operating costs. Pre-generated footage and model calls during play create different obligations. Explain quotas, service failure fallback and maintenance ownership.
  4. Prepare rights and handoff records. Document asset sources, character/voice permissions, music and IP usage, deliverable files and editing access. Confirm actual contract terms with the partner.

A small, complete sample with two working endings can make a distribution conversation more concrete than a reel of generated characters. It exposes how choices change progress and where branches or reloads lose state. This is our delivery judgment, not an assurance that the call accepts a particular sample.

World Apart adds a runtime service constraint

The report also mentions World Apart (不问凡尘), whose Steam listing names Nuverse as developer and publisher. It discloses generated assets and advertises AI NPC dialogue. Neither fact establishes participation in the cooperation call.

Its launch announcement contains a useful service boundary: after complimentary AI chat tokens are exhausted, NPCs switch to pre-written dialogue while the main story continues. The October 13 notes record a token reset. Beyond generation, creators need a way for limited services to hand progress back to authored content. We have not tested this fallback.

This is why creation-time and runtime AI need separate descriptions. Pre-generated footage can be handed over as an asset; live dialogue introduces continued calls, quotas and state maintenance. Their coexistence does not mean a model generates the entire game during play.

The RMB 8 million headline is an estimate

DataEye uses a VGI estimate of roughly 292,000 copies and a price calculation to suggest RMB 7–8 million in gross sales. That is not confirmed revenue or profit. Multiplying a headline price by copies does not account for actual discounts, regional pricing, refunds, taxes or platform shares.

We separately found an October 13 official announcement whose body describes a 260,000-sales milestone. This is a developer report, not an audited figure, and a different evidence category from the external estimate. We retain the sourced milestone without presenting “earned RMB 8 million” as a product fact or inferring a market return from one title.

The actionable additions are a checkable cooperation entry and a released game with documented quota/fallback design. A creator’s decision still depends on the branching experience, cost, delivery rights and maintenance obligations.
